Postponed in September because of the social movements of May, LeMans 24 Hours in 1968 see the appearance of 4 Alpine A220. The blue color Alpine is imperative for the 11 Alpine entered but every number has a different color of decoration.

Mauro Bianchi's A220 which had torn away the 8th place on the starting grid slowlu raises in 6th position also thanks to Patrick Depailler. But the 5th hour of race marks the beginning of mechanical troubles which will not release the tema any more up to the retirement during the 20th hour racing in a big explosion.

John Wyer is a very successful team manager at the end of the 60's. He created J.W Automotive to lead Ford to the victory from 1966 to 1969 in Le Mans 24 Hours. His name is also associated with the developpment of the Porsche 917 and then with the Mirage GR8 that wins Le Mans in 1975 such as with orange and blue colours of the Gulf Team.
