Porsche Turbo RSR

ref.: 132042EVO

In order to move from Carrera “GT” to 911 RSR in 1974, a reduction and a new distribution of the weights of thecar is required and a modification of the aerodynamics.

Matra puts its title back on the line after the victory of 1973, but  Porsche does not come at LeMans 24 Hours to make of the representation. If Pescarolo takes the lead when waving the flag, Porsche car #22 of Mueller starts in 6th position and goes back thanks to the race events of his competitors to the 3rd place at the end of the 6th hour then to 2nd place when Bob Wollek’s Matra gives up towards midnight. This is at the same moment that Koinigg’s RSR #21 is dying at Mulsanne when he is in the fourth position.

The end of the race is epic for Matra and Porsche teams and suspense in its height when Pescarolo’s Matra leaves the pit after 42 minutes only with a new gearbox... Porsche branded… and that the RSR #22 is not more than 3 laps behind. Troubles of repeated transmission on Porsche give the advantage to Matra that finally ends with 6 laps advance.
