James Hunt

ref.: FLM118024-P1

British driver who rages on the tracks of Formula 1 in the 1970s, James Hunt is titled World Champion in 1976 when driving for McLaren and after a duel with Niki Lauda and whose suspens lasted up to the last Grand Prix of the season in Japan. His career after this title split a little; he commented then successfully on Grand Prix of F1 in the BBC until he dies in 1993, brought down by a heart attack about 46 years.

The press pays a lot attention to Hunt: big amateur of beer, women and parties, his tempestuous life outside the circuits did not prevent him from being a sportsman accomplished and liked by his numerous friends:  Niki Lauda, Stirling Moss, Gilles Villeneuve, Barry Sheene, Ronnie Peterson, Jody Schekter and even the proud Clay Regazzoni did not resist the charm of gentleman (sometimes "to farmer " when he swore like a trooper) that James Hunt knew also how to be. Atypical champion, he refused to wear clothes in the colors of the sponsors, preferring walking into the paddocks, bare feet, long hair, with jeans and T-shirt used, with disreputable slogans.

The picture we used as basis to the work of the figurine was taken in Grand Prix of Monaco in 1977 that James Hunt retired after 25 laps. We recognize the extravagance of the character which had cut the end of its shoes to win some necessary centimeters to pass under the cockpit of the McLaren. He carries his helmet in the hand, recognizable in the piece of cloth (fireproofed?) which was held on all around.
