Porsche 917 LH n°3 "psychédélique"

For 20 years Porsche came to Le Mans without winning the mythical race. In 1970, the German firm wanted to take no chances.

Porsche got in touch with John Wyer, whose reputation was already well known in Le Mans and both the long and short tail versions of the Porsche 917 were entered.

Porsche 917 #3 in the psychedelic livery is one of the 2 LH entered. But it is the LH #25 that quickly takes the head. The rain comes to disturb the progress of the LH that are less easy to drive on wet track.

At mid-race, nobody knows but the final positions are already frozen with 917K #23 at the lead and Porsche 917LH #3 of Gérard Larrousse who, as the previous year has to be happy with the second place.
