Porsche 917K n°22 Winner

In 1971, the duel Porsche Ferrari does not really take place because of a strike action which affects the Italian factory. Thirty-three cars on the 49 cars that are entered into the LeMans 24 Hours race are Porsche branded.

The Martini Racing Team engages 3 Porsche 917. Porsche 917K n°21 of Vic Elford and Gérard Larrousse, 917K of Helmut Marko and Gijs Van Lennep and the famous pink pig 917/20 n°23 of Reinhold Joest and Willi Kauhsen. And the winner is Porsche 917K of Helmut Marco in front of another Porsche 917K of the Wyer Engineering Team car number 19 of Richard Attwood and Herbert Müller. It is in fact the last survivor of the three 917K Gulf at the end of the race.
