The 1934 French Grand Prix took place on 1 July and marked Mercedes-Benz’s come back to the Grand Prix after 20 years of absence.

Seventeen cars are entered by 5 factory teams and the Scuderia Ferrari which enteres 3 Alfa Romeo, and 4 cars are finally not participating.

The body is the racing version of the T59 (without the riveted edge) but with a tonneau cover on the passenger side. The straps that hold the front hood are black and there is a line around the numbers 16. The fuel plug blades on the rear of the driver are smaller and the caps are higher.

Only four cars also finished the race, including the 3 Alfas on the podium and Robert Benoist’s Bugatti T59 n°16.
